The Olympics ended yesterday, and it was an epic ending! India’s seventh medal was their first gold one for the year! Nobody would have expected that Neeraj Chopra would have gotten their first gold for 2021 on the last day! It’s crazy how amazing it was when I learnt about it today.

Neeraj won the gold medal for the men’s javelin throw finals. He’s been practising a bunch and has also won gold medals in the 2016 South Asian games the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships and the 2018 Asian Games.

Neeraj is also just the second Indian to win an individual gold medal, the first being Abhinav Bindra, who won the gold medal in the men’s 10m air rifle in the 2008 Olympics.

This was a really proud moment for India, possibly the proudest in the entire Tokyo Olympics. So, that marks the end of the Olympic Update series. Let’s wait for Paris 2024 to see just what cool things happen in the next season (?) of Olympic Updates!
